Cases

Each application or 'Case' is  specified in the following categories, each accessed from the 'Edit' menu:

Case specifications are stored in an ASCII text file with a default extension of '*.p8c'. Supporting Precipitation and Air Temperature  data are stored in separate ASCII files.  Sample input files are provided.   All input files (precipitation, air temperature, case parameters) must be stored in the same file directory.

The particle and water quality component data used in a given simulation are stored within the case file.  Alternative parameter sets can be substituted  via 'Edit Particles' or 'Edit Water Quality Component' procedures.  Particle files (also containing the water quality component parameters) have default extension of '*.p8p'.   Once an alternative particle file has been read into a case file, the link between the case file and the particle file is broken.  i.e. if you later change the particle file, you must read it into the case file again.  In order to change the particle file name, you must save it to the disk with a new file name.

Input files for the DOS version of P8 can be translated using the 'File Translate ' procedure.

Maximum case dimensions are as follows:

Item Maximum
watersheds 250
devices 75
particle classes 5
water quality components 10
length of simulation 100 yrs
number of storm events 10,000

hourly time series charts

 4 yrs
